Dryer Fire Forces Evacuation of Apartments

Montgomery County Fire Rescue Service units were called to a fire in an apartment at 19254 Circle Gate Drive on Wednesday night, which led the evacuation of some buildings in the apartment complex just off Wisteria Drive.

Shortly before 10:30 pm on July 19 MCFRS responded and first arriving units discovered a smoke condition and fire behind a dryer unit in an apartment. Due the presence and fire and the large size of the structure, fire officials called for a Rapid Intervention Dispatch task force, which brought more units and personnel to the scene.

The fire was quickly extinguished but not before it managed to extend into the wall behind the dryer unit. Damage was minor and the occupants of the apartment nearest the fire were able to return to the dwelling. No other injuries were reported.
