Corrections Officer Charged with Sexual Assault of Inmate in Clarksburg Facility

Montgomery County Police arrested a Montgomery County Department of Correction and Rehabilitation Officer on sexual assault charges stemming from an assault which took place this week at the Montgomery County Correctional Facility in Clarksburg.

Detectives with the Special Victims Investigations Division have charged Olukunle A. Oyekanmi, a Montgomery County Correctional Officer, with second degree sexual assault and other related charges. These criminal violations are alleged to have occurred while Oyekanmi was on duty at the Clarksburg correctional facility, where the adult victim, who identifies as a female, is an inmate.

The investigation revealed that Oyekanmi entered the victim’s cell on Tuesday, July 11 at approximately 6:20 am, allegedly sexually assaulted the victim, and exited the cell. Notification was made of the assault and DOCR staff began coordinating with police investigators.

Detectives reviewed jail video surveillance that showed Oyekanmi enter the victim’s cell and remain inside of the cell for the period of time the victim stated the assault occurred.

During an interview with detectives, Oyekanmi admitted to sexually assaulting the victim in the cell. On Tuesday evening detectives arrested Oyekanmi at his residence and transported him to the Central Processing Unit for processing.

Oyekanmi, a 41-year old male, was charged with one count each of second-degree sex offense, second-degree assault, sexual contact with an inmate, and malfeasance in office. He was released after posting a $20,000 bond.
