Crimes on Century Boulevard: Woman Mugged Leaving Eatery and Man Brandishes a Knife

Montgomery County Police Department reported a number of criminal incidents in Germantown from June 5 through June 30.

Police say that a woman was assaulted and robbed while leaving the Greene Turtle Restaurant at about 1:35 am on Sunday, June 18. The woman was walking in the 19900 block of Century Boulevard when an unknown black female in her early 30s approached her and pushed her down and stole her iPhone.

Earlier that week, Montgomery County Police arrested a Germantown man with two counts of second-degree assault after he brandished a knife at two people on Century Boulevard.

According to police two people were having a heated discussion in the 19800 block of Century Boulevard at about 3:30 pm on Sunday, June 11, when Kyle C. Habel, 52, of Locbury Court in Germantown approached them displaying what police called a fixed-blade serrated knife. Police said Habel, who is in a wheelchair, roll over to the two people and threatened them with the knife. Police do not believe he knew either of the two people who were having a disagreement.

Police reported that Ronald McNair Elementary School at 13881 Hopkins Road in Germantown, was broken into at about 3:45 pm on Saturday, June 17. According to police, someone busted the side glass door of the school and attempted to steal items from the vending machine in the teachers’ lounge. The vending machine was pulled away from the wall, but nothing was taken.

Two residential burglaries and two attempted residential burglaries between June 7 and June 15, occurring in the following areas:

In the 13400 block of Queenstown Lane between approximately 5:00 am and approximately 6:00 pm on Wednesday, June 7. Forced entry; property was taken.

In the 14500 block of Bubbling Spring Road in Boyds between approximately 9:00 am and approximately 1:00 pm on Monday, June 12. No signs of forced entry, a door was reported to have been left unlocked; property was taken.

Multiple thefts from vehicles occurred between Wednesday, June 7 and Saturday, June 10. Affected streets included Seneca Ayr Drive, Pine Needle Drive, Thorngate Lane, Ethel Rose Way, Greenridge Drive, and Greenbrook Drive in Boyds. No force, unknown means of entry into the vehicles; cash and property were taken.

A theft from vehicle occurred in the 100 block of Tall Cedar Court in the early morning hours of Friday, June 9. No force, unknown means of entry into the vehicle; nothing was taken.

Multiple thefts from vehicles occurred between Wednesday, June 14 and Tuesday, June 20. Affected streets included Porterfield Way, Sparkling Water Drive, Leaman Farm Road, and Warrior Brook Court in Germantown. Force was reported in one event, two vehicles were reported to have been left unlocked, unknown means of entry into the other vehicles; cash and property were taken.
