Clarksburg Football Coach Larry Hurd, Jr. Steps Down After 11 Seasons

On Monday, the man who has led the Clarksburg Coyote’s Football Program since its inception in 2006 announced that he had resigned and was stepping away from football for a while.

Larry Hurd, Jr. has been a fixture on the sidelines in The Canyon since the school opened in 2006, but in a pair of announcements on social media yesterday he said he was leaving the sidelines to pursue other options.

In a letter posted on Facebook addressed to Parents and Community of Clarksburg, Herd wrote, “It is with mixed emotions that I inform you that I have made the personal decision to move away from coaching football at this time. I have resigned my position as Head Football Coach at Clarksburg High School.”

The letter went on, “In the past year, I have found myself looking into other career paths within Montgomery County, and at this time, I would like to focus my efforts on those goals and aspirations.”
