Fire Destroys Clarksburg Commercial Building

A raging fire destroyed a commercial building in Clarksburg, despite the efforts of Montgomery County Fire Rescue Units.

The fire was reported at about 8:00 pm on Friday, May 19 at LP Oliver and Sons located at 24610 Frederick Road in Clarksburg. First arriving MCFRS units reported flames showing from the roof of the structure, according to fire officials.

More than 60 firefighters were called to the scene. The fire building was a 60-foot by 60-foot block building soon became fully involved with fire and the roof collapsed, according to Pete Piringer, a senior spokesman for MCFRS. The building was located in a non-hydrant area, and MCFRS set up a water tanker fill site at Snowden Farm Road and Frederick Road.

As a result of fire department activity, Frederick Road was closed between Little Bennett Drive and Comus Road for a few hour s. No injuries were reported, but the building was destroyed.
