Le Vent du Nord to Take BlackRock Stage on Friday

Considered a leading force in Quebec’s progressive folk movement, Le Vent du Nord captures the energy and mirth of a Saturday night kitchen party—infusing old Québecqois with a breath of fresh, cosmopolitan air. The group delivers catchy songs and tunes, some taken from the Québec traditional folk repertoire while others are original compositions.

Le Vent du Nord is currently on the road promoting Têtu, a new show including works from its 8th album and will be in Germantown on Friday, May 12 appearing at the BlackRock Center for the Arts. The show is set for 8:00 pm and tickets are still available from $27 to $35.

Made up of four singers and multi-instrumentalists, Le Vent du Nord has a rich and varied instrumentation, well-polished musical arrangements, and incredible vocals. Le Vent du Nord played to a sold-out crowd at BlackRock in February of 2015, following their sold-out BlackRock debut in 2012.

Since their inception in August 2002, Le Vent du Nord have been enjoying meteoric success and winning critical acclaim and audience adoration across Europe and North America. The quartet has performed 1,600 concerts, racking up several prestigious awards, including a Grand Prix du Disque Charles Cros, two Junos (Canada’s Grammys), a Canadian Folk Music Award, and “Artist of the Year” at the North American Folk Alliance Annual Gala. The band is now one of the most-loved Quebec folk outfits and Francophone ambassadors throughout the world.

In addition to their traditional repertoire, the group exhibits great finesse and flexibility, appearing regularly on Canadian, American, French, and UK television and radio, and participating in a wide variety of special musical projects. They’ve collaborated and performed with Harry Manx, Väsen, The Chieftains, Breton musical pioneer Yann-Fañch Kemener, Québecois roots legend and master storyteller Michel Faubert, hip Scottish folk band Breabach, the singer Julie Fowlis, and the trans-Mediterranean ensemble Constantinople.

Le Vent du Nord will be preforming in the Mainstage Theater and has reserved seating. Tickets are available at the BlackRock Center’s Website.
