Police Release Sketch of Man Who Attacked Mail Carrier in Damascus
Montgomery County Police are hoping the public can help them identify a young man that slashed a letter carrier’s jacket with some sort of blade last month while she was delivering mail in Damascus.
Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department – 5th District Investigative Section and Postal Inspectors continue to investigate the assault which happened back on March 15 at about 12:10 pm in the 9400 block of Holsey Road. Investigators have released a computer-created composite of the suspect and are asking for the public’s help to identify him.
The investigation by detectives determined that the adult female victim, who is a letter carrier and was operating a U.S. Postal Service mail truck, was delivering mail in the 9400 block of Holsey Road when the male suspect approached her while she was in the truck. The suspect asked the victim if she had a package for an address on Holsey Road. After the victim told the suspect that she did not have a package for that address, the suspect again told the victim to give him the package and reached into the mail truck. The victim attempted to roll up the truck’s windows and was assaulted by the suspect when he used an unknown object to cut the sleeve of the jacket that she was wearing. The victim, who was not injured in the assault, drove the mail truck away from the suspect and contacted the police.
The suspect is described as a white male in his late teens or early twenties. He has dark hair, wears glasses, and has a medium build. He was last seen wearing a knit cap.
