Mateny Road Sunoco Convenience Store Robbed

Wednesday evening, Montgomery County Police responded to an armed robbery at the Sunoco gas station and convenience store at 18001 Mateny Road in Germantown. The same location where a store clerk was stabbed during a robbery back in August of 2016

   According to MCPD spokesman, Rick Goodale, police received the report of an armed robbery at 6:45 pm on Wednesday, April 5. Detectives continue to investigate this incident.

   Police said that a thin Black male walked into the store assaulted the clerk, striking the clerk on the head and stole cash from the store. Police said the suspect left the area on foot, making a right along Mateny Road walking toward Clopper Road.

   Goodale said that detectives are review surveillance video and are hoping to release that to the public shortly. Anyone with information about this robbery or this suspect is asked to call the Major Crimes Division at 240.773.5070.  

   On August 15, 2016, at 58-year-old clerk suffered a stab wound to his torso and a slash wound to his face after an armed robber assaulted him and forced him open the cash register.
