A two-vehicle collision sent a pickup truck flipping into a ditch and two adults to a local hospital Monday afternoon.
The collision happened shortly before 3:00 pm on Monday, Feb. 27 at the intersection of Barnesville Road and Peach Tree Road in Boyds. A white Ford crew-cab pick-up truck ended up on its roof in a roadside ditch after a collision with a white Nissan Altima courtesy car from Criswell Autos.
According to police at the scene, two adults were transported to local hospitals. One adult was trapped in the pickup and had to be extricated by members of MCFRS unit Rescue 729 – Germantown. The trapped individual was transported to a local hospital with traumatic injuries. A dog was also recovered from the pick-up truck. The dog was uninjured.
Barnesville Road was closed in both directions for about 90 minutes as rescue crews worked the scene. Peach Tree Road was closed in both directions south of Barnesville Road. The accident happened shortly after dismissal at the nearby Barnesville School, it is unknown if anyone from the school was involved in the accident.
