Impatient Driver Ends Up in Landscaping

February 24, 2017

An impatient driver hoping to save a few seconds on his commute ended up taking a trip to the hospital Friday morning after a collision with a dump truck landed his vehicle among the landscaping on Leaman Farm Road.

According to police at the scene, while traveling westbound on Leaman Farm Road near Daventry Way and the Kingsview Village Shopping Center the driver of a Nissan Altima attempted to pass a large dump truck pulling a trailer with earth moving equipment, which was making a left turn. The two vehicles collided which sent the Nissan off the roadway at about 8:45 am on Friday, Feb. 24.

The Nissan jumped the curb and drove up and over a four-foot earthen landscaping embankment. The driver somehow managed to turn the vehicle to avoid hitting the apartment building, and finally came to rest nestled between the building and the shrubbery.

The driver, who had his young daughter in the vehicle, was transported to local hospitals with non-life threatening injuries. The girl was unhurt, according to police.
