Montgomery County Police Department reported a number of criminal incidents in Germantown from December 5 through December 13.
One street in Germantown experienced a crime spree including three attempted armed robberies and one armed robbery. Police cannot confirm that all the crimes were committed by the same suspect or suspects, but are investigating whether or not these crimes were all connected.
Police report four incidents were residents were approached by a young black male with a weapon within four days between December 8 and December 12. The incidents took place on Great Park Circle and Archstone Way which are part of the Milestone Apartment neighborhood in Germantown.
The first incident was an armed robbery which occurred in the 21100 block of Archstone Way at approximately 6:29 pm on December 8. The suspect implied that he had a weapon and took the adult male victim’s cash.
The next incident took place the following day on December 9 at about 7:47 pm in the 12400 block of Great Park Circle. Police say an attempted strong-arm robbery and a strong-arm robbery occurred in which the suspect took cash from the adult male victim in the strong-arm robbery.
Three days later, police say that an attempted armed robbery occurred in the 12400 block of Great Park Circle between approximately 7:30 pm and approximately 8:00 pm on December 12. The suspect implied that he had a weapon. The suspect was black male between the ages of 18 and 25.
During this same time police report another attempted armed robbery occurred one block away in the 12500 Great Park Circle at approximately 7:45 pm. Again the suspect, described as a black male late teens to early 20s, implied he had a weapon.
Police believe but cannot confirm that these incidents are related.
Montgomery County Police also reported two incidents on December 10 in the 12200 block of Emerald Way in Germantown, which is less than 1,000 feet from Great Park Circle.
According to police, a residential burglary and a theft from vehicle occurred at the same residence in the 12200 block of Emerald Way. No force, unknown means of entry into the vehicle; coins were taken. It is believed that the suspect(s) used the garage door opener located in the vehicle to open the garage and then opened the unlocked door leading into the residence; nothing was taken.
On the same date, at about the same time, police report that another theft from vehicle occurred in the 12200 block of Emerald Way. No force, unknown means of entry; cash was taken.
Emerald Way is just across Observation Drive from Great Park Circle.
Montgomery County Police report that a residential burglary occurred in the 26000 block of Mount Vernon Avenue between approximately 6:45 pm and approximately 7:45 pm on December 10. No signs of forced entry, the door was reported to have been left unlocked; property was taken.
MCPD also reported three thefts from vehicles occurred between December 6 and December 9. Affected streets include Minstrel Tune Drive and Boland Manor Drive. No force, one vehicle was reported to have been left unlocked, unknown means of entry into the other vehicles; cash and property were taken.
Also multiple thefts from vehicles occurred between December 11 and December 12. Affected streets include Damascus Park Lane, Largo Court, and Woodfield Road. No force, two vehicles were reported to have been left unlocked, unknown means of entry into the other vehicles; cash and property were taken.
Finally, police report multiple thefts from vehicles occurred between December 9 and December 11. Affected streets include Newcut Road, Arista Manor Way, and Horseshoe Bend Circle. No force, unknown means of entry; cash was property were taken.
MCPD reminds residents that additional incidents may have occurred and the reports had not yet been received at the time of publication, on Jan. 7.
