Clarksburg Girls Unbeaten in Division Play

The Clarksburg High School girls basketball team is off to a great start this season. The Lady Coyotes made history last year with an exciting run to the 4A West Regional Championship Game. The Coyotes have started the 2016-2017 season on a roll winning their first five games before a stumble to Severna Park in the Magruder Holiday Tournament. However, the Lady Coyotes remain unbeaten in 4A West play 6-0.

On Tuesday, the Lady Coyotes made easy work of Sherwood in a 64-29 home victory to start 2017 on the right foot. After a tentative first quarter in which both team scored just six points, the Lady Coyotes found their groove in the second by scoring 19 points and holding the Lady Warriors to just five points in the quarter. The Lady Coyotes led 25-11 at halftime and never looked back

Clarksburg had three players in double-figures, led by junior Phylicia McInnis who scored 20; junior Xanthi Limber added 12 points, and freshman Trinity Klock had 10 points in the win.

Sherwood was held to single digits in the third quarter, managing just six points, while Clarksburg’s Limber earned the bulk of her 12 points with eight field goals in the third.

With the victory, Clarksburg improves to 7-1 on the young season. The Lady Coyotes will host Damascus on Friday night at Clarksburg High School. While Sherwood falls to 3-6 for the season.
