Light Snow Potential for Germantown Tonight
The National Weather Service has issued a statement advising that there is the potential for light snow accumulation tonight in the Germantown area, and all of Montgomery County.
“Snow showers are possible late this evening into the overnight across the Washington and Baltimore Metropolitan areas. Snow may coat the ground in some locations...and with temperatures near freezing this may cause slippery conditions. The best chance for snow will be between 10:00 pm and 2:00 am late this evening (December 14) into the overnight,” reads a statement from the National Weather Service.
The potential for a coating of snow comes with a blast of arctic air that will settle over the region tonight and hang around through Thursday and Friday. The high temperature for Thursday is only 24°, with a low around 14°. On Friday, the high near 26° but and low around 23° as the arctic air moves north. However, Thursday may be windy with winds of 16 to 23 mph, and gusts of up to 34 mph.
“Wind Chill values of -10° to -20° below zero are expected late tonight for the Potomac Highlands. Strong wind gusts in excess of 45 mph. are expected Thursday across north central and western Maryland,” according to the National Weather Service.
