Frederick Man Killed in Thanksgiving Day Crash in Clarksburg

Montgomery County Police have released the identity of the adult male who died in a single-vehicle accident on Thanksgiving Day in Clarksburg.

Police identified the driver as George William Brust, age 74, of the 5500 block of Feagaville Lane in Frederick. He was the only occupant of the vehicle.

According to police, on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 24 at approximately 12:32 pm, 5th District officers and Fire and Rescue personnel responded to the area of Frederick Road and Comus Road for the report of a serious, single-vehicle collision. Upon arriving, MCFRS and MCPD personnel discovered the driver had succumbed to his injuries at the scene, and the MCPD Collision Reconstruction Unit was called to the scene.

The preliminary investigation indicates that the 2012 Nissan Altima driven by Brust was traveling southbound on Frederick Road prior to Comus Road in Clarksburg. For reasons still under investigation, the Altima left the roadway, struck a tree and then struck a telephone pole.

Frederick Road/Rt. 355 was closed to traffic in both directions for a number of hours as police investigated the circumstances of the incident. This collision remains under investigation. Anyone with information regarding this collision is asked to contact the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 240-773-6620.
