Wind Advisory for Germantown in Effect Until Midnight Sunday



The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory for Germantown and all of Montgomery County and the entire Washington D.C. region. The High Wind Advisory began at 12:00 noon on Saturday, Nov. 19 and will remain in effect until after midnight on Monday, Nov. 21.

The NWS advises that the highest winds are expected Saturday afternoon and evening and again on Sunday through Sunday evening. Winds will be from the west at 20- to 30-mph with gusts around 50-mph. Temperatures are can drop by more than 30 degrees in 12 hours this evening.

“Strong winds may blow down limbs, trees, and power lines. Scattered power outages are expected,” said the National Weather Service advisory. “A Wind Advisory means that winds of 45- to 55- mph are expected. Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.”
