Five Damascus Businesses Burglarized

Montgomery County Police report that five Damascus businesses were broken into on either the same night or within two nights of each other. All five businesses are within 1,000 feet of each other in downtown Damascus, and detectives from the MCPD 5th District believe that all five are related, according to MCPD spokesman Rick Goodale.

Police say that in the early morning hours of Monday, Oct. 17 the Karen Nail and Day Spa at 9872 Main Street in Damascus was broken into and cash was taken. Police also say that the Damascus Tattoo Company and Scentsational Florals both located at 10017 Locust Drive were also broken into on the same night. Police say that burglars stole cash from the tattoo company but did not take anything from the floral company.

Police also report that the American School of Inspiration at 9865 Main Street was broken into between Sunday, Oct. 15 and Monday, Oct. 17.

A fifth business, Cutting Edge located at 9913 Lewis Drive was burglarized between Sunday, Oct. 15 and Tuesday, Oct. 18. In both cases, cash was stolen from the businesses.

“Detectives said that they believe all of these burglaries were committed by the same suspect and probably were committed in the same time frame,” said Goodale.

Anyone with any information about these crimes is asked to call Montgomery County Police at (301) 279-8000.
