Seneca Valley Names Scholar Athletes for Month of September

October 19, 2016

Jesse Irvin, Athletic Director at Seneca Valley announced that senior Hannah Roach and sophomore Semaj Meannu have been named the Seneca Valley Scholar Athletes for the Month of September.

Hannah Roach is a senior with a cumulative GPA of 3.8 and a weighted GPA of 4.5.  She is an Eagle Ambassador and president of the National Music Honor Society and a member of the National Honor Society, the National Science Honor Society, the National Spanish Honor Society, and the National English honor society.

She serves as co-captain of the girls' tennis team for the second year in a row where she plays first singles, the most difficult position to play in tennis. On the courts she keeps a positive attitude, always shows good sportsmanship and helps the less experienced players with their skills in practice. Outside of school she performs on viola and violin with the Symphony of the Potomac as well as other music ensembles. She works incredibly hard to balance her music, schoolwork, school clubs, and tennis.

Semaj Meannu, a sophomore is the definition of Scholar Athlete, although he is still a work in progress he is making strides on and off the field/classroom. He wants to change/help the world and his community in every way he can possible. He leads his teammates and classmates in many ways positively with honor. Very respectful, helpful to strangers and non-strangers.

A year ago he was dismissed off the JV football team and grades were subpar.  What a difference a year makes, he is now a captain now and had a 4.0 last year. In addition to football, Semaj is also part of the wrestling and outdoor track and field teams.
