Car Plunges into Ravine Off Clopper Road

Montgomery County Police and Fire Rescue Services were called to the area of Clopper Road between the entrance to Great Seneca State Park and Warring Station Road for a single-vehicle which had driven off the road and into a ravine.

At about 9:30 am on Friday, Oct. 14 MCFRS responded to the report of a car off the road near 12000 Clopper Road. Upon arrival, units were directed to the area about 150 feet east of Great Seneca Creek. MCFRS extricated an adult male from the silver four-door sedan and transported him to a local hospital with priority 1 trauma and serious injuries, according to MCFRS senior spokesman Pete Piringer.

According to a witness, the driver was heading westbound on Clopper Road when he was allegedly forced to swerve to avoid deer on the road. He crashed through the guardrail and came to a stop at the bottom of a 12-foot ravine, next to the access to the off-road access to the Izaak Walton League of America property.
