Residents Urged to Register for General Election & Be Familiar with New Voting System

October 13, 2016

The Montgomery County Board of Elections encourages the County’s residents to become familiar with the new, paper based, digital image scan voting system prior to arriving for the Presidential General Election, Tuesday, Nov. 8, or during Early Voting, October 27 to  November 3. Demonstration voting units will be available at the Montgomery County Board of Elections, 18753 N. Frederick Ave., Suite 210, in Gaithersburg.

This year the State of Maryland is implementing a new, paper based, optical scan voting system. Voters will mark their selections with a pen on paper ballots prior to inserting them in the scanner for tabulation. For a list of upcoming outreach events, where the new system may be seen, visit our website at www.777vote.org.  For additional information or to schedule a demonstration at a community event, festival or gathering, please contact Dr. Gilberto Zelaya, 240-777-8532; or emailgilberto.zelaya@montgomerycountymd.gov.

Voter Registration Deadline is Tuesday, Oct. 18

Montgomery County citizens who wish to vote in the 2016 Presidential General Election need to complete and submit their voter registration application no later than Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2016, by 9:00 pm.
