Montgomery County Police Detectives from the 5th District Investigative Section are working to discover the identity of two burglars who broke into a Germantown Townhouse overnight and were caught on the residential surveillance video. Detectives have released the home surveillance video of two suspects and are asking for the public’s help in identifying them.
The incident occurred on Longford Glen Drive in the recently built townhouses between Mateny Road and Cinnamon Drive, just off Clopper Road, where the Amigo Supermarket once stood.
The investigation by detectives revealed that on Monday, Sept. 19 at approximately 3:00 am, the homeowner, who was asleep in her home in the 12700 block of Longford Glen Drive, awoke and discovered one of the suspects in the living room of the residence.
The video shows two suspects. One wearing a baseball type cap and a light colored sleeveless shirt, with a backpack on his back. The other suspect, which can be seen wearing what appears to be a light colored Henley-type tee-shirt with buttons at the neck. Both suspects can be seen walking past a vehicle parked in the driveway of the townhouse as rain from a passing thunderstorm which was the remains of Tropical Depression Julia moved across the Germantown area.
The homeowner confronted the suspect and he ran toward the front door. The homeowner pursued after the suspect and observed a second suspect inside the home. Both suspects fled from the home and toward Mateny Road as the homeowner pursued them. The homeowner then returned to her home and discovered that property had been stolen. Investigators determined that there was no forced entry into the home.
