Northwest Rocks the Rockets Beating Unbeaten RM

The Richard Montgomery Rockets has been flying high prior to Friday’s home game against the Northwest Jaguars. The high-flying Rockets were unbeaten this season, scoring forty points in all but one game. The Jags had had only one of the last three games and were still nursing their wounds after last week’s loss to Sherwood.

However, the combination of four passing touchdowns from Northwest’s Chris Craddock and outstanding special teams play brought the Rockets back down to earth.

An early Chris Craddock touchdown toss got the Jags on the board in the first quarter but failed to get the extra point. The Rockets answered back with a touchdown of their own to take a 7-6 lead in the early going.

The momentum changed on a blocked punt by sophomore DeAndre Jules which set up the Jags second score of the game. Senior running back Kahlil Owens ran it into the endzone to put the Jags up 12-7.

A second Craddock touchdown pass would put the Jags up 18-7. The 2-point conversion would be stopped.

The Rockets would get on the board first in the second half thanks to a Tyler Hebron touchdown run that cut the Jags lead to 18-13. The point-after would fail.

Northwest continued to apply the pressure, with a 78-yard Juwon Farri run to the promised land to extend the lead to 24-13. Craddock would throw for a two-point conversion making the score 26-13.
