Jags Fall to Sherwood 28-13

October 1, 2016

The Sherwood Warriors came to Germantown and defeated the Northwest Jaguars for the second year in a row. The Jags lost to Sherwood 28-13 on a misty Friday night.

While Northwest got on the scoreboard first with a 20-yard touchdown run from Juwon Farri, Sherwood would answer quickly with a touchdown of their own. Sherwood’s senior running back Travis Levy ran for two touchdowns in the first half, to give the Warriors a 14-7 lead.

The Farri and the Jags would answer back with touchdown run, breaking tackles to power 36 yards to cut the Northwest deficit to 14-13. Sherwood would block the point-after attempt. The Jags would head to halftime, down one point to the Warriors.

The game looked like it would be another tight one, reminiscent of last year’s 16-13 Sherwood victory over Northwest.

However, the game would turn after Sherwood’s Dimitri Guynn was able to recover a Northwest fumble in the endzone to expand the Warrior lead to 21-13. Sherwood’s final score came on a 40-yard run by Nicholas Comeau late in the fourth quarter.

With the loss the Jags fall to 3-2 and Sherwood remain unbeaten at 5-0. Next week, the Jags will travel to Rockville to play 5-0 Richard Montgomery, who are coming off a 42-21 victory over Walter Johnson on Friday night. Sherwood will host 1-4 Northwood next week.
