Driver Panics, Leaves Road on Great Seneca Highway

January 6, 2016

Montgomery County Police and Fire/Rescue units were called to the northbound lanes of Great Seneca Highway after a vehicle left the road and ended up stuck on the incline just south of Mateny Road in Germantown on Wednesday afternoon.

MCFRS were called to the scene shortly before 1:30 pm after an adult female in a silver vehicle traveling northbound on Great Seneca Highway encountered a vehicle stopped with mechanical problems in the right hand lane. Although, the driver of the disabled vehicle had put out caution flares to warn other drivers. The silver vehicle jumped the curb and came to rest on a steep embankment after the driver panicked at the sight of the disabled car.

The adult female driver was evaluated by EMS but did not need to be transported. There were no other injuries. The northbound lanes of Great Seneca Highway were closed to traffic as police and fire personnel assisted the individuals.
