Fire Damages Truck in Poolesville

January 21, 2016

A fire destroyed a truck at a Poolesville lumberyard Thursday morning.

Montgomery County Fire Rescue Service units were called to the 20319 Whites Ferry Road in Poolesville at 7:30 am on Thursday, Jan. 21 for a report of a vehicle fire. Arriving units located a 1997 Peterbilt tractor trailer with fire blowing out of the engine compartment and began to attack the fire.

According to MCFRS senior spokesman Pete Piringer, the vehicle was a utility vehicle for a lumber yard operation at the location. He said the truck was parked and not in service at the time of the fire. MCFRS extinguished the fire which did about $20,000 damage to the vehicle.  The cause of the fire was determined to accidental, according to Piringer. No buildings or structures were damaged by the fire and no injuries were reported.
