Man Dies in Single-Vehicle Crash in Poolesville

An Annandale, Va., man is dead after his pick-up truck hit a tree on a rural road Friday night in Poolesville, according to Montgomery County Police.

   MCPD report that Leland Thomas, 61, of Annandale, Va., died when the 2011 Chevrolet Silverado left the road and crashed into a tree on Partnership Road Friday, Sept. 2 night in Poolesville.

   At approximately 7:38 pm, 1st District officers and Fire and Rescue personnel responded to the area of 16001 Partnership Road for the report of a collision.

   According to police, a preliminary investigation has indicated that the driver of a vehicle was traveling south on Partnership Road. For reasons still under investigation, the vehicle left the roadway in the area of 16001 Partnership Road and struck a tree. The adult male driver was pronounced deceased at the scene.

   MCPD had Partnership Road closed between Sugarland Road and Whites Ferry Road closed for several hours last night as the MCPD Collision Reconstruction Unit conducted an investigation in the crash.

   This collision remains under investigation. Anyone with information regarding this collision is asked to contact the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 240-773-6620.
