One Arrested After Armed Robbery on Crystal Rock Drive

Montgomery County Police Department reported a number of criminal incidents in Germantown from August 15 through August 23.

   Montgomery County Police have arrested one Germantown man and a 16-year-old female and are looking for at least one other person in connection with an armed robbery which occurred in the 19600 block of Crystal Rock Drive at about 10:30 pm on Monday, August 22.

   According to police a 23-year-old male had met the female earlier in the day and began exchanging messages over social media,

   The 23-year-old male victim was speaking via social media with a female and agreed to meet at Crystal Rock Drive. As they were walking along a group of suspects approached them. One person in the group produced a handgun. The suspects stole the victim’s property and fled the area. Police were called to the area and were able to locate and apprehend one of the suspects. Police arrested 19-year-old Daquan Keenen Simpson of the 20000 block of Beaconfield Terrance and charged him with armed robbery, conspiracy to commit armed robbery, and robbery.

   According to police, a subsequent investigation revealed the female involved in the robbery. A 16-year-old Female charged as juvenile with conspiracy to commit armed robbery and conspiracy to commit theft of $1,000 to under $10,000.

   MCPD is continuing to investigate and seeking the other suspects including the suspect who produced the handgun.

   In a separate event which took place earlier that morning, police say a 19-year-old male was attacked by five or six suspects of unknown ages while walking in the area of Archdale Road and Trophy Court in the early morning hours of August 22. Police say one of the five or six suspects displayed what appeared to be a handgun as the group assaulted the two victims. Police did not get descriptions of the attackers.

   In yet another violent crime, MCPD has arrested one teenager and are seeking another in connection with a strong-arm robbery which occurred on Tuesday, August 16 at approximately 11:30 pm in the area of Father Hurley Boulevard and Hopkins Road. According to police, an adult male victim got off a Ride On Bus at Germantown Road and Father Hurley Boulevard, when two suspects also got off the bus and began to follow him. The two suspects assaulted him and stole his iPhone.

   Police were able to identify the suspects from surveillance video footage from the Ride On bus. Police arrested a 17-year-old black male from Glenarden, MD, and are seeking another black male suspect in his late teens.

   MCPD have arrested two Gaithersburg residents, one 16-year-old white male and a black male of unknown age, in connection with a burglary at Clopper Mill Elementary School at 18501 Cinnamon Drive at approximately 10:30 pm on Thursday, August 18. Police report no forced entry but property was stolen.

   Police reported a number of burglaries since August 15.

   The first occurred in the 9200 block of Damascus Road. Police say a residential garage burglary occurred on Monday, August 15. No forced entry; property was taken.

   A commercial burglary occurred at the Damascus Recreational Swimming Pool located at 25730 Woodfield Road in the early morning hours of Monday, August 15. Forced entry; property was taken.

   A shed burglary occurred in the 6500 block of Damascus Road between approximately 12:00 am and approximately 9:30 am on Thursday, August 18. Forced entry; property was taken.

   An attempted residential burglary occurred in the 12700 block of Sesame Seed Court in the early morning hours of Saturday, August 20.

   A residential burglary occurred in the 20700 block of Scottsbury Drive between approximately 11:45 am and approximately 8:30 pm on Sunday, August 21. No forced entry; property was taken.

   MCPD report two residential burglaries occurred in the 100 block of Observation Court between approximately 7:30 am and approximately 3:30 p. on Tuesday, August 23. Forced entry; property was taken.

   The Montgomery County Police Department continues to urge all residents to remove valuables and keys from their vehicles and to lock vehicle doors as theft from vehicles continues to be a plague on the community.

   MCPD reported multiple thefts from vehicles in the early morning hours of Tuesday, August 16. Affected streets include Songbird Lane, Bunyan Circle, Watercress Circle, Milestone Manor Lane, and Dorsey Spring Place. No force; property was taken.

   Two thefts from vehicles occurred in the early morning hours of August 16. Affected Blossom Hill Way and Alpine Drive. No force; change was taken.

  Also, police report multiple thefts from vehicles occurred between Tuesday, August 16, and Friday, August 19. Affected streets include Knolltop View Court, Brook Run Drive, Cabana Drive, and Drumcastle Terrace. No force; property was taken.

   A theft from vehicle occurred at Schaeffer Farms Mountain Bike Park located in the 14800 block of Schaeffer Road between approximately 1:45 pm and approximately 3:15 pm on Monday, August 22. No force; cash and property were taken.

   MCPD urges all residents to remove valuables and keys from their vehicles and to lock vehicle doors.

    MCPD reminds residents that additional incidents may have occurred and the reports had not yet been received at the time of publication, on Sept 2.
