Clerk Stabbed During Gas Station Robbery in Germantown

Montgomery County Police have released surveillance video of a robbery of a gas station in Germantown in which the clerk was stabbed last week. Police are asking the public for help in identifying the suspect.

Detectives from the Major Crimes Division are investigating a robbery of a Sunoco gas station that occurred on Monday night, August 15 at about 9:00 pm at the Sunoco gas station convenience store at 18001 Mateny Road in Germantown. During the robbery, the suspect stabbed a clerk with a knife. Investigators are releasing surveillance video of the robbery and are asking that anyone with information about the crime or the suspect to come forward to police.

Police said that on August 15 at about 9:07 pm, the Montgomery County Emergency Services call center received a 911 call for a robbery that had just occurred at the Sunoco gas station located at 18001 Mateny Road. Officers responded to the address and located a 58-year-old clerk suffering from a stab wound to his torso and a slash wound to his face. The employee was transported to the hospital for treatment of his non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said detectives have determined that the suspect entered the gas station and asked for cigarettes, presumably to cause the employee to turn his back to him. The suspect then vaulted the counter, produced a knife, and demanded money. A struggle between the suspect and clerk ensued, and the suspect stabbed the clerk in his torso and slashed his face with the knife. The suspect then forced the employee to open the cash register. The suspect fled from the store after obtaining cash from the register.

The following video shows the suspect stabbing the employee. Although the video is edited, it may not be suitable for all audiences.
