National Night Out Set for August 2

July 26, 2016

The annual observance of National Night Out will take place next Tuesday, Aug. 2. The 2016 National Night Out, which is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch, is designed to generate neighborhood support and participation in crime prevention efforts and to enhance police and community relations.

In Germantown there will be two community events planned for August 2. The first is in Germantown Park, near the community pool at 18400 Cinnamon Drive from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm. The second is planned at The Hamptons community on Crystal Rock Drive. The event will take place near the community pool at 19757 Crystal Rock Drive from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm.

Along with the traditional display of outdoor lights and front porch vigils, many communities celebrate with a variety of events to help neighbors get to know one another and to build community spirit. This will be the 33rd year of National Night Out observances that demonstrate a community’s commitment to keep their neighborhood free from crime.
