Reports of Gunshots Determined to be Fireworks

Montgomery County Police have determined that numerous reports of gunfire in the early morning hours last night in Germantown were in fact, fireworks.

MCPD spokesperson Rebecca Innocenti said that police did receive a few reports of gunshots at about 3:30 am on Monday, July 25 in the area of Father Hurley Boulevard and Crystal Rock Drive in Germantown. Innocenti said police investigated the area and determined the sounds to have been fireworks, and not gun fire.

The sound of fireworks waking up neighbors come a few weeks after a 19-year-old was arrested for emptying his handgun at a group of people on Crystal Rock Drive on June 29. Luckily, no one was struck or injured in the shooting, according to MCPD.
