Man Sentenced to 12 Years in Prison After Home Invasion Robbery of Middle School Friend

On Monday, Montgomery County District Court Judge Robert A. Greenberg sentenced 24-year-old DeVonte Dixon to 12 years in prison for the home invasion robbery of a Germantown woman which took place on Nov. 4, 2015

Last month, Dixon was convicted by Judge Greenburg on one count of Home Invasion and one count Armed Robbery, for his part in the crime. Prosecutors say that Dixon and another man, who was armed with a handgun, burst into an apartment in 12800 block of Locbury Circle in Germantown on Nov. 4, 2015. Police say Dixon kicked in the door and began to beat the female victim at the house and demand money, while the other man stood watch at the door.

However, according to reports, Montgomery Assistant State’s Attorney Patrick Mays says 24-year-old DeVonte Dixon didn’t realize that the woman whose Germantown home he invaded last year was his Facebook friend.

The victim was able to identify the man who broke into her home and attacked her because he was a former classmate at Roberto Clemente Middle School. She recognized from his periodic appearances in her Facebook news feed. Investigators used the victim's description as well as a Facebook photo she provided, as well as a distinctive shoeprint to link Dixon to the crime.
