Police Investigate Armed Robbery of 7-Eleven by Masked Man

July 20, 2016

Montgomery County Police are investigating the armed robbery of a 7-Eleven by a masked man brandishing a gun. In an effort to identify the suspect, detectives from the Major Crimes Division have released surveillance video of the suspect.

On Tuesday, July 19 at approximately 3:32 am, 5th District officers responded for the report of an armed robbery at the 7-Eleven convenience store located at 18701 Liberty Mill Road at the corner of Liberty Mill and Clopper Road.

The investigation revealed that an adult male employee was inside the 7-Eleven near the store’s office when the male suspect entered the store armed with a handgun. The suspect pointed the handgun at the employee and then motioned with the gun towards the cash register, according to MCPD spokesman Rick Goodale.”Investigators don’t believe that he said anything, and the he let his actions speak for him.” The suspect stole an undisclosed amount of cash and fled out the front of the store.

The suspect is described as unknown race male in his mid-20s, approximately 5-foot, 11-inches tall with a medium build. While detectives can’t be sure, based on the video, the suspect’s hands seem to be Caucasian, he doesn’t seem to be wearing gloves. He was wearing a white “Anonymous” style mask and all dark clothing.

Anyone with information regarding the suspect or this armed robbery is asked to call the Robbery Section at (240) 773-5070.  Those who wish to remain anonymous may call Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477). Crime Solvers will pay a cash reward of up to $10,000 for information provided to them that leads to an arrest in this case.
