Montgomery County Police Department reported a number of criminal incidents in Germantown from June 6 through June 22.
Montgomery County Police report than an Uber driver was forced to abandon his car after his passenger told him he had a gun and demanded the driver keep driving.
Police were called to the intersection of Dawson Farm Road and Mediterranean Drive at approximately 3:45 am on Wednesday, June 8 by an Uber driver claiming that his passenger had begun to act strange and eventually assaulted the driver, telling him that he had a gun and demanding the driver keep driving.
The Uber driver was able to pull over in the area of Dawson Farm Road and Mediterranean Drive and fled the car. The suspect passenger was located nearby police and arrested. He was 30-year-old Tyrone Sewell, of the 1000 block of West Side Drive in Gaithersburg. Sewell faces charges of carjacking, second-degree assault, false imprisonment, and drug charges. Sewell has a long history of crime in Montgomery with arrests for armed robbery, and weapons and drug possession charges dating back to 2005.
MCPD report an armed robber of a jogger in the area of Leaman Farm Road and Great Seneca Highway on Monday, June 20. Police say that the adult male victim was jogging at 1:15 pm in the area, when he was approached by a bald, black-man. The man asked the jogger if he knew what time it was, and then produced what the victim described as a black semi-automatic gun and demanded cash and property. The man said he was out jogging and didn’t have anything. The suspect then fled on a silver mountain bike, according to police.
Two youths were assaulted and robbed by another group of juveniles as they walked home from Rocky Hill Middle School on Friday, June 10 at about 5:30 pm. Police said that the two victims were walking Grey Squirrel Street in Clarksburg when they were approached by a group of youths. One youth demanded the victims shoes and punched the victim took his shoes. Police arrested a 14-year-old boy from Clarksburg in connection with this incident.
Police report that a pizza delivery man was robbed in the 12400 block of Great Park Circle in Germantown at about 1:30 pm on Wednesday, June 8. Police say the victim arrived at the address to deliver pizza but got no answer, while the victim was returning to his vehicle he was approached by male suspect who punched him in the face and stole the pizza.
MCPD reports five residential burglaries since June 6.
The first attempted residential burglary took place between 8:00 am and 3:30 pm in the 12900 block of Falling Water Circle in Germantown. MCPD also reported a second attempted residential burglary occurred in the 12900 block of Falling Water Circle in the early morning hours of Monday, June 13.
A second residential burglary took place in the 11300 block of Halethorpe Terrace in the early morning hours of Sunday, June 12. Forced entry; nothing taken.
A third residential burglary occurred in the 11200 block of Sibley Terrace in Germantown, in the early morning hours of Tuesday, June 14. Forced entry; nothing taken.
Police report another residential burglary occurred in the 12800 block of Pinnacle Drive in Germantown at an unknown time on Wednesday, June 15. Forced entry; nothing taken.
A fifth residential burglary occurred in the 20700 block of Crystal Hill Circle on Wednesday, June 15 between 9:00 am and 7:00 pm. Forced entry; property taken.
Police also report multiple thefts from vehicles occurred in the area of Winterspoon Lane between June 15 and June 16. No force; but cash and property were taken.
MCPD reminds residents that additional incidents may have occurred and the reports had not yet been received at the time of publication, on June 24.
