Germantown Glory Fireworks Set to Light Up the Night

UPDATE: At 3:30 pm on July 4, Montgomery County announced that the two Independence Day Celebrations, as scheduled — “Germantown Glory” at the Maryland SoccerPlex in the South Germantown Recreational Park, 18041 Central Park Circle, Germantown; and “Mid-County Sparkles” at Albert Einstein High School, 11135 Newport Road, Kensington. Both fireworks displays are now scheduled to begin at 9:15 pm.

 

 

Montgomery County will again host an Independence Day fireworks display on July 4 -- Germantown Glory at the Maryland SoccerPlex in the South Germantown Recreational Park in Germantown will start at approximately 9:15 pm on Monday, July 4.

   Germantown Glory will kick off at 7:00 pm with a concert by Quiet Fire, a soul, R&B and rock band that covers hits from the 1960s, 70s and 80s.

   To reach the South Germantown Recreational Park from I-270, take exit 15B (Route 118 south) toward Germantown; go approximately two and a half miles and turn right on Richter Farm Rd. Go one mile and turn left onto Schaeffer Road. The park entrance is 0.3 miles on the right. Free parking is available.

   Low lawn chairs, blankets and coolers are welcome at both events. Food vendors will be on site. Alcoholic beverages are not permitted. The rain date for fireworks only is Tuesday, July 5.
