Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department – 1st District Investigative Section continue to investigate a vandalism that occurred at the John Poole Middle School located at 17014 Tom Fox Avenue in Poolesville. Investigators have released photographs of two suspects and a suspect vehicle that was seen in the area and are asking for the public’s help in identifying them.
The vandalism took place in the early morning hours of Sunday, May 15 at the school. Officers responded to the John Poole Middle School for the report of vandalism. The investigation revealed that when school employees arrived at the school at about 7:30 am, they discovered that several areas of the exterior of the school building, along with areas on the tennis court had been spray-painted with graffiti and profanity.
Police spokesman Rick Goodale said that investigators were not ruling anything out when it comes to possible suspects. “Detectives are looking at any and all possibilities. It could be current students at Poole Middle School or students who have left the school. The likelihood is that it is probably going to be outgoing eighth graders, based on the graffiti reading ‘8th Gade Rule.’ That is one thing that detectives are looking into,” said Goodale.
Goodale said, “The majority of the vandalism was graffiti and profanity that we could not release. There was a lot all around the building and on the tennis courts.” Goodale said the 8th Gade Rule (sic) photo was the only one that was clean enough to post.
Officers checked the school’s surveillance system and observed the two suspects walking from the rear area of the school on Sunday, May 15 at 1:33 am. Officers also saw a black Jeep Wrangler on the surveillance cameras driving on school property at the same time the two suspects are seen at the school.
Police are looking into the possibility that the Jeep was driven by older friends or family members. “It could be friends from the high school level that were driving them around, or it could be family members,” said Goodale.
