Ice Truck Snaps Utility Pole, Closes Ridge Road

Montgomery County Police and Fire Rescue units were called to the 27300 block of Ridge Road in Damascus after an ice truck crashed into a utility pole shortly after noon on Thursday, June 16.

The impact of the large box truck completely snapped the utility pole along the northbound lane of Ridge Road and caused the live electrical wires to come to rest on top of the truck. MCFRS transported on the victim to Suburban Hospital after the victim was extricated from the truck.

Montgomery County Police closed Ridge Road for a short time while Fire Rescue and utility crews worked to remove the victim and the wires.
