Seneca Valley Senior Featured on Times Square Billboard

On Wednesday, June 8, a recent graduate of Seneca Valley High School was featured on a larger than life billboard at the Crossroads of the World in New York City’s Times Square.

Ria Malones was one of 300 students from around the United States to have their picture on a four-story billboard in the heart of Times Square on June 8. The event came about through The Get Schooled Foundation, and its partner the Taco Bell Foundation. Each of the applicants was asked to detail their life passion and how they used education to further their passions and dreams this school year.

Malones application read, “I want to leave my mark on the world. I've always loved writing. I love to document my life and create my own works of fiction. My English class expands my vocabulary and opens my eyes to different literary techniques that I include in my work. That is why I am in other activities such as vice president of my class and choir so that I can write about them. I hope that one day my book will become a New York Times bestseller. I know I can do it if I don't give up and I will leave my mark on the world.”

Malones and each of the honorees will also receive a $1,000 scholarship from the Get Schooled Foundation.
