Fatal Crash Leaves Three Teenagers Dead in Clarksburg

Three young men are dead after a late night crash in the 25300 block of Burnt Hill Road in Clarksburg.

The crash occurred at about 11:45 pm on Tuesday, June 8. Montgomery County Police and Fire Rescue units were called to the area of Burnt Hill Road just north of Kingstead Road for the report of a report of a serious single-vehicle collision involving a vehicle that had left the roadway.

The preliminary investigation indicates that a black, 1989 Ford F-250 was traveling southbound on Burnt Hill Road approaching Kingstead Road when, for reasons still under investigation, the vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree. The driver, identified as Jacob Tyler Dennis, age 17, of the 15400 block of Barnesville Road in Boyds and a passenger, identified as Patrick Andrew Shifflett, age 18, of the 9100 block of Charlie Farm Court in Laytonsville were deceased at the scene. An additional passenger, identified as Cary Mauri’ce Greene, age 17, of the 22500 block of Muscadine Drive in Clarksburg was transported to Suburban Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Jacob Dennis and Patrick Shifflett were both rising seniors at Clarksburg High School and members of the Clarksburg High School football team. Cary Mauri’ce Greene was also a rising senior at Clarksburg High School. Clarksburg is scheduled to hold its Commencement exercises at Mount St. Mary’s University at 10:00 am this morning, Wednesday, June 8.

This collision remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 240-773-6620. Callers may remain anonymous. Burnt Hill Road was closed for most of the night as investigators worked the scene of the crash.
