Police Seek Help to ID Wegmans Wallet Thief

Detectives from the 5th District-Germantown Patrol Investigation Unit say that a man stole a wallet from a shopper’s purse at Wegmans in Germantown and used her credit cards. Police are asking the public to help identify him. Police believe that he’s done this in the past and in neighboring jurisdictions.
According to police, on April 24, 5th District officers responded to the Wegmans grocery store located at 20600 Seneca Meadows Parkway for the report of a theft.

The investigation revealed that at approximately 1:15 pm, the female victim was shopping in the Wegmans when her wallet was stolen out of her purse. The victim’s credit card was later used at the nearby Target store. Detectives obtained a surveillance photograph of the suspect from the Target.
Investigators believe this suspect committed a similar offense at this same Wegmans about one year earlier on March 2, 2015. Detectives also have reason to believe this suspect committed similar offenses in Fairfax County, Va., Leesburg, Va., and Frederick, Md.
