Clopper Road Crash Leaves Van Hanging

May 12, 2016

Montgomery County Fire Rescue Service and Police units were called to the intersection of Clopper Road and Waring Station Road for a collision involving four vehicles. The impact of the crash left two vehicles mangled and a van straddling the guardrail.

The collision occurred shortly before 4:00 pm on Wednesday afternoon and snarled traffic on Clopper Road for a few hours. MCFRS senior spokesman Pete Piringer said that three adults were transported to local hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.

First responders on the scene said the white Dodge van flipped and rolled multiple time before coming to rest straddling the guardrail. There were three other vehicles involved in the crash, a silver Volkswagon Jetta suffered severe front-end and driver’s side damage, and a red SUV ended up with a damaged tire. A fourth vehicle suffered only minor damage. The collision left debris strewn all along Clopper Road.

Montgomery County Police had Clopper Road blocked off at Mateny Road for traffic headed west and were diverting all eastbound traffic up Waring Station Road. Clopper Road was closed for a few hours as crews worked to clear the damaged vehicles.
