Northwest Boys LAX Retain Bragging Rights With Defeat of Seneca Valley
The cross-town rivalry was rekindled again as the Northwest and Seneca Valley boys lacrosse teams met Monday evening, with the Jags claiming bragging rights for the fifth straight season.
The boys’ teams played at Seneca Valley and saw Northwest Jags even their season record to 4-4, with a 16-2 victory, over the winless Eagles.
Northwest’s senior attackman Alex Reinsch got the scoring started with a goal at the 10:58 mark of the first quarter. He would finish the game with two goals, on six shots and one assist.
Less than a minute later sophomore Shane Parcelles had the Jags on the board again. But Seneca Valley would strike back with a goal from sophomore Jamus Jupin at the 9:47 mark of the first quarter.
However, as the game progressed the more experienced Jags overwhelmed, the younger Seneca squad controlling more loose balls and keeping the offensive pressure on the Eagles throughout the game. The Jags had four players with three goals in the game, senior Cole Notari, and three sophomores Shane Parcelles, Luke Patterson, and Pierce Barbour all had hat tricks in the victory.
Seneca Valley senior Francisco Guevara would score at the 8:12 mark of the second quarter. He had four shots in the game. The Eagles would find the back of goal again.
Northwest got a goal each from junior Doug Haller and senior Sean Le to round out the 16 goals. Junior captain Cole Notari had three goals, two assists, and seven shots in the game.
The Jags improved to 4-4 with four games remaining in the season. They will travel to face unbeaten Churchill on Wednesday and will host 6-3 Blake on Friday evening. Next week they will travel to play 4-5 Einstein on Monday, May 2 and host 2-8 Richard Montgomery on Friday, May 6.
The Screaming Eagles are still looking for their first victory, and will travel to play 4-7 Rockville on Wednesday, and are on the road again for a game at 6-5 Paint Branch. They will close out the regular season with two home games against winless teams, 0-8 Wheaton will play in the Eagles’ Nest on Tuesday, May 3 and 0-8 Kennedy visits on Thursday, May 5.
