Culvert Repairs to Close Davis Mill Road

Montgomery County Highway Services will close Davis Mill Road in Germantown at the end of this week to conduct emergency repairs to a failing culvert.

Josh Faust, Public Outreach Manager with MCDOT said that Highways Services recently learned that the steel pipe culvert was failing and in need of emergency repairs. Davis Mill Road will be closed between Watkins Road and Wildcat Road beginning Thursday morning, April 28. Faust said that video message boards will be installed on the road explaining the detour which will require drivers to take Watkins Road and Wildcat Road to circumvent the area where the culvert is being repaired.

Faust said the work could take as little as two days, and that MCDOT hopes to have the road reopened by Friday night, depending on how fast the crew can get the work done. “However, if the weather doesn’t cooperate it may be closed until Monday,” said Faust.

Faust said that work is required due to the area being prone to flooding problems during heavy rainstorms. “It is one of those things where if we don’t fix it now could be bad news in the future,” said Faust.
