Overturned Vehicle Snarls Traffic

April 20, 2016

Montgomery County Police and Fire Rescue Service units were called to the intersection of Clopper Road (MD-117) and Germantown Road (MD-118) on Wednesday morning for a motor vehicle collision involving three vehicles, one of which ended up on its roof.

MCFRS units responded to the collision, which happened at about 9:15 am on Wednesday, and found a white Cadillac Escalade overturned in the westbound lanes of Clopper Road. The driver was evaluated by EMS and transported to the Germantown Emergency Center with non-life threatening injuries, according to police on the scene.

Another vehicle involved in the collision was able to drive to the parking lot of the 7-Eleven/Sunoco Station at the nearby corner of Clopper Road and Liberty Mill Road. An occupant of that vehicle was also transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to police on the scene.

A third vehicle, a red Toyota was damaged, and the occupants of that vehicle, which included young children were also transported to local hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.

The wreck snarled traffic for about 45 minutes Wednesday morning, just after rush hour. All westbound lanes of Clopper Road, including the right turn lane onto Germantown Road, were closed. All traffic had to turn left onto southbound Germantown Road.
