Montgomery County Little League has decided to postpone Opening Day Activities at South Germantown Park, which was scheduled for tomorrow, Saturday, April 9, due to the expected nasty and cold weather conditions. However, all games scheduled for tomorrow will be played as scheduled.
In an email to all players and families, the MCLL Board of Directors said, “Due to the impending bad weather that is forecast for tomorrow the Board has decided to postpone the Opening Day activities. As disappointing as this is, none of us wish to be standing on a field when it is 38 degrees, windy and wet. We will attempt to reschedule all or part of the activities for a date in the near future.”
The National Weather Service has issued a Freeze Warning for Montgomery County, effective from midnight to 9 a.m. on Saturday. According to the warning, temperatures will be around 30 degrees tonight with lows in the mid 20s Saturday night. Unprotected vegetation is sensitive to freezing temperatures and may be killed or damaged.
Games are still on as scheduled unless weather and field conditions warrant that individual games should be cancelled. “Tomorrow's games are still on as scheduled and will be cancelled in accordance to the normal rain out policy if the County closes the fields,” said the email.
