BOE OKs Contract to Replace HVAC System at Capt. Daly ES

The Montgomery County Board of Education has approved a contract to replace the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning system at Capt. James E. Daly Jr. Elementary School at 20301 Brandermill Drive in Germantown.

In the consent agenda portion of the March 21 business meeting, the Board approved a $2.4 million contact with Rockville-based Shapiro & Duncan, Inc. to replace the HVAC system at Capt. James E. Daly Jr. Elementary School and a $98,250 contract with Mount Airy-based Keller Construction Management, LLC to provide construction management services for the project.

In the resolution, the Board indicated that Shapiro & Duncan, Inc. was the low bidder for the project and met the Maryland Department of Transportation Minority Business Enterprise criteria. Paramount Mechanical Corp. has submitted a certification that the company is 10 percent owned by a minority. The Board also indicated that Shapiro & Duncan, Inc. has successfully completed similar work for MCPS in the past. The new HVAC systems will be installed in accordance with drawings and specifications prepared by James Posey Associates, Inc.
