Northwest LAX Comes Out Firing, Beating Kennedy 17-4

The Northwest Jags boys lacrosse team came started the 2016 season with a 17 goal barrage of Kennedy on Tuesday night in Germantown.

The Jags are coming off a 6-8 season last year and are off to a good start, tallying more goals than any game last season.

Junior captain Cole Notari got the scoring started with 7:58 remaining in the first quarter. Just 3:25 later fellow junior attackman Doug Haller would add another goal, thanks to an assist from another junior, defender Petur Bogan.

With a two-goal lead, it was time for the seniors to get involved, as Alex Reinsch was able to sneak the ball past Kennedy’s goalie to extend the lead to 3-0. Reinsch’s goal was followed by fellow senior Zach Famoso finding the back of the goal net, to extend the lead again. The Jags would score twice more in the first quarter; Reinsch would get his second of the game, and another senior, captain Colin Hanley would finish out the first quarter scoring. The Jags would lead 6-1 at the end of the first quarter.

The Cavilers would get on the board with a goal from Corey Dykes. He would finish the game with two goals on five shots. The other two Kennedy goals would come from Andraina Randrianvelo, who would finish with two goals on four shots in the loss.

In the second quarter, it would be Reinsch to begin the scoring with his third goal with 8:23 seconds remaining in the first half. Notari would get his second, and Famoso would get his second. Northwest would take a 9-2 lead into halftime.

In the second half, the Jags would dominate possession forcing most of the play to take place in the Kennedy defensive third. Northwest would score six more goals in the third quarter. Notari would get two of those goals, Haller would get two, and Formoso and Hanley would add one goal apiece.
