Coyotes Struggle in LAX Opener

The Clarksburg boys lacrosse team opened their 2016 season on the road against Wootton. The Coyotes lost 17-3 to the Patriots.

Wootton’s Mase Romm got things started in the opening quarter scoring the first of his four goals on the day. He would score once in each of the four quarters. He also had one assist.

It was the Patriots’ Justin O’Daniel who would be the big problem for the Coyotes. O’Daniel finished with seven goals, on 15 shots, and one assist. Wootton’s Brad Verdin would pitch in with three goals of his own, and two assists, while Brett Rudden would have one goal and three assists, and Stephen Bray would have a goal and an assist. Michael Vaughn also added one goal.

The Coyotes first goal of the season came in the first quarter as Skyler DeFrank put the ball past Patriots goalie Brian Barrett. DeFrank would end the day with two goals on four shots. Ryan Crosby would have the Coyotes third goal. Blake Hunt, Tyler Ko and Alexander Zeighani would all have assists.

The Coyotes home opener will be against Northwood on Thursday at 7:15 pm. Northwood is coming off of an 11-2 home victory in their opener over Wheaton.
