The a cappella group Six13 is already an Internet phenomenon with over five million views on YouTube, and this Sunday they will perform live on the BlackRock stage. The performance will be on Sunday, March 13 at 5:00 pm.
Driven by a mission to connect Jews around the globe with their heritage through music, anchored by a strong Jewish identity, and fueled by thumping beatbox, intricate arrangements, and soulful harmonies, Six13 is a six-man vocal band that brings an unprecedented style of Jewish music to the stage, with songs ranging from hip-hop dance tracks to rock anthems. The members of the New York City-based group sound like a full band – while using nothing but their voices.
Six13 has recorded six award-winning albums, whose songs have been played all over Jewish radio and been chosen to appear on nine different “best of” compilation albums. The group has over 20,000 CDs in circulation, and are among the top Jewish music artists on iTunes. They have received distinctions and accolades from Jewish organizations like the National Council of Young Israel and Moment Magazine, and awards from musical organizations like the Harmony Sweepstakes and the Contemporary A Cappella Society of America.
Six13 has made appearances around the world for millions, to rave reviews and standing ovations. They’ve played the Chabad Telethon, Washington D.C.’s Kennedy Center, traversed New York’s Fifth Avenue in the Salute to Israel Parade, headlined the North American Jewish Choral Festival three times, and performed seven times for major league sporting events at Shea Stadium, Citi Field, Madison Square Garden and Dolphin Stadium.
Tickets to see Six13 at BlackRock Center for the Arts are $18-$36 and are on sale in person, over the phone by calling 240.912.1058, or online at blackrockcenter.org.
