Suspect Walks Away With Cash After Armed Bank Robbery

Montgomery County Police Department reported a number of criminal incidents in Germantown from February 8 through February 23.

Police say a man robbed the Wells Fargo bank located at 12101 Chestnut Branch Way in Clarksburg at 4:53 pm on Friday, Feb. 19 and made off with cash.

According to police, the white man between 30- and 40-years old walked in the bank and once inside the suspect announced to the teller that he wanted cash in $50 and $100 bills. He also repeatedly told folks in the bank that he had a weapon, although no weapon was seen.

The suspect is described as a white male, 5-feet, 10-inches tall, weighing between 140- and 150-pounds. He was wearing a black bandana with yellow spots, and a dark colored winter jacket with a hood, along with yellow work gloves. Police did not have any information on a vehicle or how the suspect left the bank.

MCPD reported a residential burglary in the 20000 block of Sweetgum Circle in Germantown in the early morning hours of Saturday, February 13. Police report that there was no forced entry but property was stolen.

Another residential burglary occurred in the 18900 block of Porterfield Way on Friday, February 28 between 6:45 am and 7:00 am. No forced entry but property was taken.

Police report another residential burglary occurred in the 20600 block of Boland Farm Road between 10:00 am and 4:15 pm on Friday, February 19. Police report that in this case the suspects forced entry into the residence and stole property.

Fifth District Police in Germantown also reported multiple thefts from vehicles occurred in the 18800 block of Bent Willow Circle in the early morning hours of Friday, February 19. No force; property was taken.

MCPD reminds residents that additional incidents may have occurred, and the reports had not yet been received at the time of publication, on March 1.
