Clarksburg Boys and Girls Advance to Setup Epic Battles With Quince Orchard in Next Round
It was a playoff double-header in Coyote Canyon Friday night, and Clarksburg faithful were rewarded with both their boys and girls team earning victories in the opening round of the playoffs. The evening began with the boys whipping Wootton 63-56 and ended with the Lady Coyotes eliminating Northwest from the post-season with a 76-58 victory.
The gym was packed as the 14-8 Coyotes took on 9-11 Wootton Patriots in a nip and tuck game for the first half of action. Clarksburg’s senior standout, and Loyola University commit, Andrew Kostecka had 10 of his total 22 points in the first half to lead all scorers. His early output allowed the Coyotes to take a four point, 30-26 lead into the break. Kostecka shot six from the field and made 10 or 13 from the line. He had 10 points down the stretch in the fourth quarter.
Junior Michael Winterburn added 14 points for the Coyotes, making 7 of 8 from the line. Fellow junior Ian Krishnan finished with 10 points in the win.
