Police Arrest Three After Armed Robbery in Town Center

District 5 police have arrested three men in connection with an armed robbery that took place in the Germantown Town Center late Monday night.
Police arrested Wendell Marques Stokes, 19, of the 20300 block of Notting Hill Way in Germantown; D’Andre M. Johnson, 22 of Alexandria, Va.; and Christopher Wayne Strickland, 24, an unknown address.

According to MCPD spokesman Officer Rick Goodale, two adult male victims were skateboarding in the alley and parking lot at 12840 Pinnacle Drive, which is between the EuroMotorcars Germantown Mercedes dealership and the Five Guys Burgers and Fries in the Town Center at about 11:30 pm on Monday, Feb. 22. As the victims were getting into their vehicle to leave three men approached them. Police say that one suspect entered that passenger side of the car and pointed a black handgun at the victims and demanded their wallets and cellphones.
The suspects fled on foot, and the victims called the police. Montgomery County Police from District 5 responded, along with a K-9 unit. Police tracked the suspects into a nearby neighborhood but were unable to locate the suspects.
About an hour later a patrol car reported seeing three men who matched the description walking on Observation Drive walking toward the Milestone Shopping Center, according to Goodale. When officers approached them near the Wal-Mart, the suspect attempted to run from police. They were apprehended after a brief foot chase and found to be in possession of the stolen property. Officers also found a black 40-caliber handgun in possession of Wendell Stokes. Police did not say if the gun was loaded or not.
All three men are facing charges of Armed Robbery, two counts of First-Degree Assault, Theft of less than $1,000, and two counts of Second-Degree Assault. Stokes is also facing firearms charges and possession of marijuana. A preliminary court hearing for all three men is scheduled for March 18.
